It made me cry!!!
Rather scrumptious,though, wasn't he???
I'm with you, Gigi. I started out looking at it very cynically and thinking, "I wonder how many wallets he'll score?" But it's just really, really nice. Something I'll come back to when I'm in a downer modd.
I hate to say this and I know a true Brit kicks a man when he is down. But the friendliness and generosity in France inevitably weakens the will.
Maybe we should hug Colinb.
You go first.
Well I'm thinking it over. I don't think it's infectious, but I'll check my life insurance nevertheless. Then I'll give it a go, I always was a courageous, er foolhardy, type.
I've thought it through overnight. If I am going around giving free hugs I need some anti louse powder. The pharmacies are closed today.
It will have to wait a while.
That's really thoughtful of you Richard, to de-louse yourself before giving out hugs!!
Lousy, Louise, lousy
Sorry ... write Louise without an 'i' and what do you get?
Louise has a louse in her, plain for all to see. The cigarettes would have smoked it out, but it's obviously of a hardened lice.
Angus has no louse, not even a little flea cos ee's got no 'eff 'n 'ell, aaah.
Wot you bin smoking this morning, Richard?
Lovely, very satisfying and just what I needed...
Angela
Listen, Louise, and please listen carefully. Thanks to you and your blog, we are the injured parties. You are the one who keeps this lousy thing going, so stop acting the innocent.
Signed,
Voldemort (He Who Must Not Be Named)
Bill If you want a laugh, Voldemort has set himself up as a wine expert. The wine shop saw him coming, and now he is annoucing all Bordeaux rubbish!!!!
Thanks for the warning, Richard. That's one backyard I stay out of. Especially if it's awash with red biddy...
I don't have fairies at the bottom of my garden - I have trolls and gnomes and creepy crawlies all over my blog. Perhaps I might have to say my first goodbye - there is a lot of nasty things being said about me in the Telly blogs and I think these comments should be moderated, as it's not fair. Boo hoo !!!!!
That's what you get for posting such terrible "abuse" on Shane Richmond's blog. Are things being said about you on other Telly blogs? I haven't waded through them. Voldemort gets everywhere, doesn't he?
No - it's only on Shane's blog - or at least I think so, I haven't read the others. Doesn't Voldemort die in the last Harry Potter book? Three people die so it must be Voldemort, Ron and who is the third one?
There's a persistent rumour that it's Harry himself. Wouldn't surprise me. That would do away with any temptation for J.K. Rowling to resurrect the series at some point in the future.
I wonder, though, if she'll ever write anything else?
Each time a Poter book comes out, there is always an organisation of do-gooders that criticise the book for one reason or another - I reckon if Harry dies there will be counselling services set up the length and breadth of the land to help children come to terms with this...
For sure, JKR no longer has to write - I wish I could invent a Harry Potter - I think if I were her and wanted to continue writing I would definitely not write another children's book; there would be too much comparison.
I think a lot of parents will need counselling more than their kids.
It would be so nice to be in J.K. Rowling's position, having invented this character and made enough money to allow her almost to rival the queen in wealth and not have to do anything she doesn't want to do. But what if she did want to keep writing?
Whatever she produced, whether it was aimed at kids or adults, I think there would be a huge amount of comparison with the Harry Potter series and she'd inevitably be found lacking. Even with all the money in the world that would be hard to live with.
I enjoyed the Potter books, and can understand why they held such an appeal for children, but I still find books such as Lord of the Rings much better. My son, who is a great bookworm, enjoyed the first two Potter books but grew up quicker than Harry so there wasn't the fascination later on - he read the Lord of the Rings a couple of years ago and adored the book and got far more out of it than Harry Potter. BUT ... it's true that the Potter books got many children (and I suspect adults) into reading, so that in itself is a good thing.
JKR will have to write adult books now I think, or go on the lecture circuit - that would make her a few zillion dollars!
I'm totally hooked on the Potter books, though I find I can only read them once. My favourite books, I can read over and over. I hate Lord of the Rings; always did. I had to force myself to finish it. Have you tried Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy (Titus Groan, Gormenghast and Titus Alone)? For my money, he blows Tolkien clean out of the water.
