WHERE IS THIS?

I'm sure you won't know the name of the village. It's in England, of course. A clue : amongst my 'blogger friends' Roads is the only one that might be able to answer! Another clue : it's a pub. I noticed that this is my 49th blog, so on blog number 50 the winner will be announced!

Seems a bit of a one-sided competition....
What's the prize?

Louise said...

Perhaps Roads shouldn't take part ....

As for the prize, I haven't thought about that yet. A good bottle of claret perhaps? (Seeing as how the photo is of a pub).

Or perhaps a pint in the pub in question...

As long HWMNBN doesn't choose the claret...

Noticed or Mentioned?

Bill Taylor said...

Named, isn't it?
Have you read Shane Richmond's 3 new blog-stars? They're not bad.

Louise said...

You could well be right...

The new bloggers on the Telly are good, aren't they? Might put a bit of zing back into their blogs as blogging hasn't been the same since Colin Randall left - weep, weep.....!

Bill Taylor said...

I mentioned weeping to SR today. It didn't go down well in certain circles.

For some reason your pics don't blow up on my computer so I can't see much. Except thunder clouds reflected in the polluted puddle and soggy wet grass. Just stopped raining and will start again soon. I think there is also a spot of vomit near the pond. And if I am not mistaken there is dog shit in front of the pub. The seats are broken probably by vandals. The first floor windows are boarded up against under age stone throwing. Somebody has thrown their fish and chip wrapper and coca cola tin in the bushes. Horse faeces are floating in the water, or are they human? There are 15 CCTV’s of which two are functioning. The guy driving in front of the pub has road rage.

Could be anywhere in England.

Finchingfield, Essex

No, these photos don't blow up - sorry.

Not Essex.

This is like the lottery. Since there are no prizes any more who cares. Stick up an impossibly small photo and ask where it is. It has that home counties plastified look of Sevenoaks.

Louise said...

Not Kent, but getting warm.

There is a prize - bottle of plonk or a pint in this pub! What more do you want?

Bill Taylor said...

Air fare?

Louise said...

And what else? I'm buying the drinks, that's all.

richard of orleans said...

Well then somewhere in Surrey. Redhill. Or maybe the godawfull name godalming

Bill Taylor said...

I'm betting Devon or Oxfordshire. Maybe near Thame.

Louise said...

Getting very close with Godawfulming - googling might help!

Gigi said...

I reckon it must be somewhere near Guildford...:-)

richard of orleans said...

Googling what pray. 'a stupid something that sticks up tiny photos of plastic pubs that exist all over England'?

Yeah my friendly Michelin map says Guilford, unless you're into hamlet's.

Louise said...

It's near Guildford, it's nearer to Godalming - I dunno, try googling pubs near Godawfulming - don't know if this will work (I don't have to google it of course, as I know the pub!)

Gigi said...

The Crown Inn, Chiddingfold????

I have to stop this obsessive googling. I have a lesson to prepare for tomorrow morning...

I notice there are a lot of 'gastro' pubs. I assume it means gastronomique and not gastro-enterite :-)

Louise said...

YEEEESSSSS! BRAVO, MA GRANDE!

You've won first prize! And more about this pub tomorrow (or the day after).

Silly, wasn't it? However the blogging was a bit sluggish this evening so it kept you all amused for five minutes or so!

Gigi said...

Yes, well I hold you responsible, Louise, for the fact that it is nearly 11pm and I still haven't prepared my lesson for tomorrow.

I will do anything - anything to procrastinate...

Bill Taylor said...

Will you choose the bottle of claret or the pint of beer as your prize, Gigi?

Gigi said...

Hmm. Good question, Bill. I could procrastinate for another half hour trying to make up my mind...

I'm not a pub person, really. More of a seedy-smoky-dimly lit-Parisian-backstreet-bar sort of person - at least in my romantic daydreams, I am. In real life, I'm just an overweight housewife with a tea addiction.

I'll take the claret...

Louise said...

Well, Gigi, I might be down in your area within the next couple of weeks, so you might get your bottle of wine sooner than you think!
