LA VENGEANCE EST UN PLAT QUI SE MANGE FROID...

... n'est pas, Colin B?

I'm just leaving a heading here as later on I might post a new blog, which might or might not be interesting, and instead of it getting filled with in-fighting, I have left you a space on my soapbox! Personally I have no remarks to make on your new posting.

I think we can rely on any post of yours to be interesting, Louise. So don't hold back on my account. Say what it is you are clearly dying to say.

But as already indicated, I have withdrawn from personal blogging. All that's left to do now is to explain the events that forced me to make that decision, and to deliver on my undertaking to share the know-how that has allowed me identify who has been leaving hostile comments on mine and other blogs. I made a start last night.

Thank you for the "courtesy of your columns" (as they used to say in the Times ). But I now have serious issues to address, and do not think it fair to continue using your blog to do so. In fact, the only reason for doing so recently is that one of the saboteurs in my sights has continued to use blogs within our "family", yours included, as a platform to taunt and bait, whilst refusing, he said, on principle, to visit my blog. But I recently discovered him to be the author of a hostile comment sent to my blog under a pseudonym (Lacombe Lucien). Now I know who he is (Bill Taylor) I can move the dispute to my patch, and spare you further unpleasantness.

As you know, I have withdrawn the comments facility on my blog, simply because two individuals have used it in a clear attempt to trash Dreams & Daemons, and I have neither the time nor inclination to be acting as moderator day and night.

D&D should now be viewed more like a newspaper than a blog. "Letters to the Editor" should be sent to:

sciencebod01@aol.com

The decision on whether to publish will be mine and mine alone ("free speech" has never been a blank cheque in my book, or newspapers for that matter). But I will consult with senders before publishing extracts from emails etc.

I'm sure there will be further attempts at provocation on your blog from the two snipers/saboteurs Louise. I will now be defending my reputation for openness and fair play on my "blog", not yours.

Once again, farewell, bless you Louise. I'm sorry that things have turned out like this, but it was not of my choosing. Others have tried to dictate the agenda, while claiming, falsely and maliciously, that I was the one doing that.

Bless you all, in fact, bar those two "rottweilers".

You can't control what others say on your blog, Louise, but please try to say nothing that requires me to return here. Use the email facility instead. Thank you. Goodbye.

PS Forgot to say: it's not vengeance I'm after, but enlightenment and justice.

I'll try to make that my final word on your site, Louise.

Adieu, adieu, adieu (a friendlier version of the method of divorce used by, er, desert communities: "I divorce thee, I divorce thee, I divorce thee").

The only thing I have to say, Colin, is that you could have set up the moderator thingy on your blog - as the Telly does and as does Mouse, for example. That way you moderate comments and discard them before the general public see them, which of course stops any egging on from others. That's all - you don't need to reply to this.

Point taken, Louise.
But as I've said - I want out of personal blogging. The fun's gone out of it.
No need to reply.

My only comment here is to repeat something I said a couple of weeks ago: This guy has problems. He'll be happier behind his own little Iron Curtain. But I wonder who else will fail to re-emerge?

Colinb for me is the quintessential Englishman: free speech if you say the right thing, democracy if you vote for him, free trade as long as you buy his goods, fair play provided he wins, justice subject to him writing the laws as well as being judge and jury.

There is an island set aside for people like him, he should go there.

Moderating comments would have saved a lot of trouble.

Love the above two comments - don't understand a thing!
